Manuela Carbone joined the UNSSC in November 2004, where she started working in the Programme Unit as Programme Assistant in the former Resident Coordinator System Support Team, which then became the UN Coherence, Development, Gender & Human Right Team. Manuela has organized and supported hundreds of workshops for the UN staff at all levels, including the Secretary General’s Retreats held in Turin. Within the Programme Unit, she then moved to the Leadership Team in 2016 and has very recently joined the Learning Lab Team.
Manuela is also a Belbin ® Team Role-accredited trainer with merit and administers the Belbin Team Role tool to UN counterparts. She is currently training become an ICF Executive Coach.
Manuela is also a professional translator and graduated from the École de Traduction et d'Interprétation at Geneva University. Before joining the UN, she worked as a freelance translator. She is currently on the Executive Board of Turin Alzheimer’s Association as of 2009 on a voluntary basis.
ASSOCIATE FELLOW, LEARNING LAB
Xun MA (Frank) is an associate fellow at the Learning Lab of the UNSSC, specialising on instructional design. Before moving to Turin for this internship, he was in his master study in Science Education with a focus on Educational Technology in UCL Institute of Education, London. He holds a bachelor and a doctor degree in chemistry from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong SAR, China. He also spent one semester as an undergraduate exchange student in KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. He is passionate in education with great interests in online teaching and learning, and he has also got two certificates from the online platform Coursera. He is also a believer in science who always wants to do more in science communication.
